Mozarkite Society of Lincoln Inc. – Meeting Minutes
The meeting was held Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the First Christian Church, 200 S. Limit, Sedalia, MO 65301.

Old Business:
Kelly Blum presented the "Rural Missouri" list of commercial caves with available hours. He will contact the caves to see about tours if there is enough interest. Diane, Pam (speaking for Bradley), Kelly, and Nancy expressed interest. Kelly will check tour times, costs, and potential senior discounts.
The issue of dining out before meetings was revisited. It was decided that we would go out to eat for all meetings except potluck dinners. After-meeting refreshments may resume if pre-meeting dinners become too burdensome.
Diane made a motion, seconded by Kelly, to try a variety of local restaurants (starting with Perkins) instead of always dining at the same one. (Motion Carried)
Kelly made a motion, seconded by Joyce, to meet at Perkins at 6 PM and delay the meeting start until 7:30 due to slow service. (Motion Carried)
Other restaurant options mentioned include Mazzio’s, Bandanas, La Mare, El Tapete, El Espolón, and El Rodeo.
Kelly asked about the lock for the storage unit; Pam stated she had the keys and would replace the manager’s lock with our own, providing one key to the manager.
New Business:
A scholarship application was received from former Kids Club member Allyson Alecantera, an excellent student with outstanding grades and commitment. However, she is choosing to major in English. Karl made a motion, seconded by Nancy, to award the scholarship (since there is no other candidate) and immediately rewrite the scholarship criteria to specify that it is only for students majoring in geoscience. (Motion Carried)
Pam will review the by-laws regarding appointment of scholarship committee members and contact her choices individually.
Larry will reserve Shelter House #3 at Liberty Park for our summer picnic on June 25 (picnic starting at 6:30 PM).
